History of the Silver Buffalo
Production of Buffalo silver rounds began in 1911 when President Theodore Roosevelt prompted the US Mint to replace the coins of the time. James Earle Fraser was chosen to design the original five cent coin and it was put into circulation in 1913 as a replacement for the Liberty Head coin. The coin became known as the Buffalo nickel in honor of the portrait of a buffalo on the reverse. It’s also known as the Indian Head nickel as one of the most iconic depictions of Native Americans in US coinage.
The image of the buffalo is believed to be a Buffalo named Black Diamond from the Central Park Menagerie. The American Indian portrait on the obverse of the coin is a combination of three well known Native Americans, Iron Tail, Two Moons, and Big Tree. However, over the years numerous Native Americans have claimed that they were the model used for the original nickel design.
1 Oz Buffalo Silver Round Design
Modern privately minted Buffalo silver rounds are faithful to the classic design of the Buffalo nickel. Though they are struck in a number of private mints, the round is somewhat standardized with only minor variations among rounds of different manufacturers. Most commonly this comes in the form of a 1 troy ounce silver round with 99.9% purity.
The buffalo is usually accompanied by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” at the top and “1OZ. .999 FINE SILVER” at the bottom on one side, and the word “Liberty” on the other.
Specifications
The one troy ounce rounds weigh 31.1035 grams. The round measures 39 millimeters in diameter and 2.8 millimeters in thickness. The edges of the round are usually reeded, as opposed to the smooth edges of the original.
Who Makes Them
Numerous private mints across the United States make a Buffalo silver round with the one ounce round as the most requested and sought-after variety.
While a coin and a round of the same design may be very similar to each other, having the same size, diameter, thickness, weight and percentage of precious metal, that is typically where the similarities end. Coins are generally produced by a government mint. Government minted coins will usually have a face value, meaning they are legal tender.
On the other hand, a round is produced at a private mint, and can have a similar obverse and reverse design as a coin, but it won't have a face value. Therefore, a round isn’t legal tender or denominated in a government currency, but it still holds its value as a physical asset.

Domestic Shipments
UPS Ground is our Standard and Preferred shipping method. UPS cannot deliver to PO/APO/FPO addresses. USPS will be used for PO/APO/FPO addresses. International shipments require State Department approval and will use best available shipping options TBD. Shipment tracking is available for UPS and USPS shipments.
UPS Ground services are not available to Alaska or Hawaii. Orders to Alaska or Hawaii must be shipped by either UPS Second Day Air or USPS. A $20.00 surcharge will be added for Second Day Air service to Alaska or Hawaii.

Before returning any product, you MUST obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from a customer service representative by calling 855-ARMOR-01. The 28601 is a high end ballistic solution comprised of a Silicon Carbide ceramic core, supported by a lightweight proprietary high strength composite backing, finished with a highly durable, chemical resistant polymer coating.
This is the ONLY commercially available plate capable of stopping M993 / .308 Armor Piercing Rounds.
The result is a lightweight, Triple Curve, NIJ 04 Level IV certified ballistic solution capable of defeating multiple hits of 5.56 (M193, M855, M855A1), 7.62x39 (FMJ, M1943, API), 7.62 x 51mm (M80 Ball/M61AP, M80A1, M993) and is also capable of stopping 7.62 x 54R (LPS/B-32API) and 30.06 AP M2.

- The end user will not transport or use any Hoplite Armor products outside of the United States.
Hoplite Armor, LLC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse the sale of body armor to any person or entity. Additionally, the online sale of body armor to residents of Connecticut is strictly prohibited, unless the sale is made to certain law enforcement or military personnel, or through a face-to-face transaction.
Hoplite Armor does not ship any products outside of the United States in compliance with ITAR regulations. By purchasing, owning, or possessing Hoplite Armor systems, the end user certifies that no Hoplite Armor products will be transported or used outside of the United States.
All statements contained herein, or in any other related Hoplite publication of any kind, are not designed to provide legal counsel in any way, shape or form. Warranty Disclaimer
The body armor system(s) sold in connection herewith shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 60 months after the date of issue. AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE PERIOD OF TIME THE PRODUCT CARRIES NO GUARANTEE, regardless of the certification or labeling under NIJ standards, and not will perform according to said specifications. Hoplite Armor assumes no liability whatsoever for any use or misuse of any armor related products.
Any body armor system that has received heavy use (for example, moderate-to-heavy denting or bends in the armor, cracks or breaks on the face, panels are heavily abused and worn), regardless of its age, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE EXPIRED AND AUTOMATICALLY VOIDS ANY WARRANTY IN ALL RESPECTS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, VOIDING ANY BALLISTIC PERFORMANCE WARRANTY.
Hoplite Armor LLC does not represent or warrant that the functions contained in the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, that the defects will be corrected, or that this site or the server that makes the site available are free of viruses or other harmful components. Hoplite Armor LLC does not make any warrantees or representations regarding the use of the materials in this site in terms of their correctness, accuracy, adequacy, usefulness, timeliness, reliability, or otherwise. Some states do not permit limitations or exclusions on warranties so the above limitations may not apply to you.
Please inspect all armor upon receipt in order to insure that there are no defects or damage caused via shipping. Hoplite Armor must be notified within 7 days of delivery in order to address any potential issues under warranty. Limitation of Liability
Hoplite Armor LLC shall not be liable for any special or consequential damages that result from the use of, or the inability to use, the materials on this site or the performance of the products, even if Hoplite Armor LLC has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Applicable law may not allow the limitation of exclusion of liability or incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
Typographical Errors
In the event that a Hoplite Armor LLC product is mistakenly listed at an incorrect price, Hoplite Armor LLC reserves the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for product listed at the incorrect price. Hoplite Armor LLC reserves the right to refuse or cancel any such orders whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Hoplite Armor LLC shall issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the incorrect price.

Orders can only be shipped to addresses in the United States.
Domestic Shipments
UPS Ground is our Standard and Preferred shipping method. UPS cannot deliver to PO/APO/FPO addresses. USPS will be used for PO/APO/FPO addresses. International shipments require State Department approval and will use best available shipping options TBD. Shipment tracking is available for UPS and USPS shipments.
UPS Ground services are not available to Alaska or Hawaii. Orders to Alaska or Hawaii must be shipped by either UPS Second Day Air or USPS. A $20.00 surcharge will be added for Second Day Air service to Alaska or Hawaii.

RETURNS AND REFUNDS POLICY
Returns Policy
All sales are final. No Refunds, No Cancellations. Exceptions may be made by Hoplite Armor LLC but will require a 20% restocking / processing fee. Before returning any product, you MUST obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from a customer service representative by calling 855-ARMOR-01. We can only process returns and refunds for items directly purchased from www.hoplitearmor.com and filled by Hoplite Armor LLC. Proof of purchase is required. Your return must be in the original package and include the original invoice received with the merchandise. Send the package prepaid, via UPS or insured U.S. Mail to:

Refunds
