MIRA Safety Potassium Iodide (KI) tablets provide thyroid protection in the event of nuclear reactor accidents or radiological dispersal events. Each tablet contains 65mg of potassium iodide — the FDA-recommended dose for adults. Available in 1-pack, 3-pack, and 5-pack configurations with a 10-year shelf life.
How Potassium Iodide Works
In a nuclear or radiological emergency, radioactive iodine (I-131) can be released into the air and absorbed by the thyroid gland, increasing the risk of thyroid cancer. Potassium iodide saturates the thyroid with stable (non-radioactive) iodine, blocking uptake of radioactive iodine for approximately 24 hours per dose. The FDA supports KI use as a protective measure in radiation emergencies.
